Venue Restrictions

Typically, the first step in the wedding planning process is selecting a venue. It's essential to check whether your chosen venue has any restrictions on outside vendors. While some venues allow vendors of your choice, others may have stringent regulations.

Below are some venue restrictions I've encountered as an outside vendor, such as a DJ, caterer, photographer, and more.

  • It's worth noting that some venues require outside vendors to be registered businesses, as some vendors may operate entirely off the books.

  • It's quite common for venues to require outside vendors to have liability insurance coverage of at least one million dollars.

  • In some cases, outside vendors must go through an application process to provide services for your wedding.

  • Certain venues maintain a list of approved outside vendors exclusively permitted to offer services at their facility.

To avoid any issues, it's recommended that you communicate with the venue you choose or are considering determining whether they have any limitations on the outside vendors you wish to hire, such as caterers, DJs, photographers, and so on. This is not intended to scare you, but rather to ensure a smooth planning process.

I hope this advice helps in making your special day everything you envision it to be.
